Proven Stress BustersEven though this time of year brings enormous joy, it
can also bring enormous stress. Maybe some of these ideas will help you not only
survive, but enjoy the holidays more than usual. ·
Don’t
rely on your memory.
With so many tasks to do, it’s easier to stay on track by writing appointment
dates and times down. The only catch is, you do have to remember to look at your
calendar! ·
Learn
to say, “No.”
This can be a hard lesson to learn, but once you begin, it will become an
addiction. We have to pace ourselves by learning to say no to extra projects,
social activities, and other commitments that deplete us of time and energy that
are really more needed elsewhere. Be sure to take time to relax and rejuvenate. ·
Ask
questions.
It’s true – “the hurrieder I go, the behinder I get.” Take the time to
be specific in what needs to be done and when. Asking questions first saves a
lot of time and frustration later. · Don’t put up with something that doesn’t work right. If your alarm clock or coffee pot just gave out, get a new one. Don’t just stew about it. Anything that becomes a constant aggravation will wear you down. · Talk it out. Discuss problems, traditions, wishes, and desires. Get them out in the open, talk about them, and fix them. Again, worrying about them does no good at all. It’s solving them that frees us to enjoy the moment. |
